Dr Shechambo dead

With great sadness, I hereby inform you that a beloved brother and colleague, the Deputy Provost for Administration (DPA) and Ag. Dean of the Faculty of Science, Dr. Fanuel Christopher Shechambo, has died. shechambo
Dr. Shechambo came to SEKUCo in June 08 and became the first DPA of our university college. Two months later, the SEKUCo Governing Board appointed him to the position of Deputy Provost for Academic Affairs (DPAA). He held that position until May 2010. On 1st of June 2010 the Governing Board decided to return him to the post of Deputy Provost for Administration. He was also assigned to act as Dean of Faculty of Science.

During the last month, Dr. Shechambo’s health has been unsteady. This was mainly caused by complications arising from diabetes, an illness which he has had for many years. On 15th April 2011, his health weakened significantly. At midnight he was taken to Lushoto District Hospital where he was being treated until his death which occurred on Saturday, 16th April 2011, at 9.30 a.m.

I wish to extend my sincere condolences to all of you. Also, I thank you for the overwhelming support which you have extended to Dr. Shechambo’s wife and our colleague, Mama Dorothy Shechambo, and her family.

The funeral will be held at Mlalo village on Tuesday 19th April 2011. To mark SEKUCo’s participation, a Farewell Service will be held at 9.00 a.m. in the Assembly Hall before transporting Dr. Shechambo’s bdy to Mlalo.

The morning he died, Dr. Shechambo prayed as follows:

The LORD is my Shepherd, I shall not want
He makes me to lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside the still waters.
He restores my soul; he leads me in the paths of righteousness
For His name’s sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil; for You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
You anoint my head with oil;
My cup runs over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life;
And I will dwell in the House of the Lord forever.
(Psalm 23)

Yours sincerely,

Rev. Dr. Anneth Munga
