Jubilee of 125 years

North Eastern Diocese celebrates 125 years of Gospel since the first Missionaries early 1890’s. The Celebrations were held in Tanga at Mbuyukenda grounds on 5th July, 2015 and ended at the Lushoto Cathedral on 12th July, 2015.


Former president of the United Republic of Tanzania in ribbon-cutting to signify the launch of tower confined as Jubilee of 125 years.



The ceremony involves various religious leaders, politicians, government officials and diplomats.


However, the opening was graced by the former President of the United Republic of Tanzania Hon. Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete. In his remarks, he insisted parishners and Tanzanian at large to conduct a peaceful election by choosing candidates with enough skills, patriotic and fear of God.   


Kikwete stresses that society must keenly avoid corrupt presidential candidates because the country poverty has brought by corrupt leaders and institutions.

On Sunday 12th July, 2015, Presiding Bishop of ELCT Dr. Alex Malasusa honored the closing ceremony at Lushoto Cathedral. On his remarks, he congratulates the Diocese for a long journey of 125 years of tears, sorrow and happiness.
