Construction of a New Building at SEKUCo

Friends of SEKUCo, wherever you are,

Peace be with you!

On behalf of the whole SEKUCo community, I extend a warm ASANTE for your unwavering support to the work of this university college.

When SEKUCo was opened in October 2007, we started to use renovated
buildings. Old, worn out structures were refurbished and are being used as
lecture rooms, hostels, libraries, laboratories, offices and cafeteria.
During its 3 1/2 years of existence, SEKUCo has grown steadily. Having
started with 138 students in 2007, the academic year of 2010/2011 had a
total of 1331 registered students. Although 297 of these are graduating,
the university college will receive 760 new students in the next academic
year. With such an increase in student numbers, more physical facilities
are needed. We are therefore starting to construct a building with 5
lecture halls. One of the halls will have the capacity of 1000 users
whereas the rest will accommodate 250 each. The building will also contain
a bookstore and a cafe.

In line with the Vision and Mission of SEKUCo, the new building will be
disability-friendly so that students, staff-members and visitors with
challenges related to mobility and sight may access it without problems.

Having followed the tendering procedures as stipulated in the financial
regulations of SEKUCo, the Tender Board decided that Beijing Construction
Engineering Group Co. Ltd. should carry out the construction of the new
building. The contract has already been signed and the Lushoto District
Engineer has given us the building permit. Alfa Architects/Sky Consultants
are supervising the work.

The plan is to have the new building ready by the end of May 2012.

Please keep this work in your thoughts and prayers.

Yours sincerely,

Rev. Dr. Anneth Munga
